Habitat description

Mostly streams, but sometimes headwaters, seeps and springs, shaded by forest. Often with emergent vegetation, coarse detritus and a gravelly and/or soft (like muddy) bottom, thus probably especially calmer sections (like pools). Inferred to occur from 0 to 900 m above sea level.
